Sail with a skipper in Greece or Turkey

Everybody dreams about a sailing holiday once, but what if you cannot sail (yet)? Just book a sailing holiday in Greece or Turkey with a skipper.

The way that OCC Yachting works is quite unique:

* You choose your yacht and your sailing area, out of our wide range of possibilities.
* You specify with your booking (online or by phone) that you would like to hire a skipper or instructor for a certain period (€ 595 per week).
* During your sailing holiday you join the flotilla.
* The skipper / instructor is only on board at the times you are sailing from one harbor to the other. All the other moments (evening, night, morning) you have all the privacy with your own family or friends on your own yacht.

* Because the skipper / instructor doesn’t sleep on board you can choose the boat that fits accordingly to your company.
* You decide yourself how much you like to do on board. Maybe you would like to learn the skills of sailing, sail along or lay in the sun: it's your holiday, so you decide.
* The skipper / instructor is always Dutch (Flemish)/English speaking.

So it is the maximum freedom for people with little experience, who like to experience a sailing holiday.

A sailing holiday with a skipper doesn’t replace a thorough education in the OCC Yachting boating school. But you are most likely to be able to independently sail along in a flotilla after one week with a skipper. So if you book a sailing holiday for two weeks, it is possible that in the second week you can sail your own yacht.

Bare boat charter in Greece and Turkey

In Greece and Turkey, you can choose to go along with a flotilla or bare boat charter. In the Netherlands it is only possible to go bare boat.

Bare boat means that you find your own route through the area. So you rent the yacht of your choice, moving it independently around the sail area, and deliver your boat at the end of the lease back, similar to renting a car.

Flotilla sailing in Greece or Turkey

Flotilla sailing is perhaps the most relaxed way to discover an unknown sailing area. If you join in with a flotilla you listen to a briefing in the morning. In this briefing information is given about the weather, the route, beautiful anchor places on the way and you will hear everything there is to know about the destination harbor and its village.
In the evening, when you arrive at the destination, entirely at your own pace, the flotilla leaders are on the quay ready to assist you with the mooring of your boat. Even in the busier ports they often succeed in delivering you a place, this due to their extensive experience and good contacts with the locals.

Is there anything going wrong along the way, our team will try to solve the problem as soon, and as correct, as possible. Main goal is to do this on the spot.

If you have any doubts during your day about which breathtaking bay your destination is, you can constantly make contact with the mother ship via the VHF device. This mother ship is sailing the same route. Flotilla sailing is a wonderful free way of sailing, with experience people ‘on the side’ who know about the area and know the boat you are sailing on by heart. You decide day by day if you follow the laid out route or that you stay over in this beautiful bay, or visit that small fisher village. No problem, as long as the flotilla guides know about it.

Of course at the end of the day you meet the crew of the other ships that are joining the flotilla. You come easily in contact with people who love to sail as much as you do and under the Greek or Turkish sun the well deserved drink tastes even better with good company. In the summer months the clientage of Greece and Turkey flotillas consist of a lot of kids. In Greece the distances of the day routes are kept short(er) so the most important people of the world have enough time to swim, play or lay on the beach with their new friends.

Bare boat

Still prefer to go your own way. Then you can go ‘bare boat sailing’. Of course you’ll receive an extended technical briefing, but after that you decide yourself where to go and what to do. More knowledge of navigation and technology is in this case recommended and required.
