The Weather

The weather in Lefkas is stable from late April until the second half of October. Stable means that the wind and weather conditions are equal on 80% of the days. In the mornings the weather is calm. When the weather gets warmer, there is a land breeze of 2 Beaufort. Around noon the wind is mostly NW. During the afternoon the wind is picking up to an average of 4 Beaufort. Since this is a thermal wind its power depends on the heat differences between land, the temperature above the southern Adriatic Sea, and the temperature above the northern Ionian Sea. Sometimes the wind is stronger up till 5, especially in the area between the south of Lefkas and Ithaca and the southern Ionian islands Keffalonia.
At certain points in the sail area, the wind tends to turn into the mountains. Then it is possible that, despite the stable NW wind, you get some wind from the W, the N or the W.

Between 5 pm and 7 pm the wind gets less and it's almost perfectly calm.
